Started in 2017, [email protected] October was different from any other TEDx organization you have seen before and looked forward to keeping on TED ongoing mission since 1984: spread ideas. That being said, it was founded in STEM October high school on the bases of the noble belief of its founder and very first chairman: “Ideas from the whole world worth spreading in STEM world.” In other words, STEM community in Egypt are more inclined towards academics and obviously the STEM portion of the huge pool of academies. Therefore, it was important to bring this community out of its shell and have it introduced to a new world full of diverse interests, passions and ideas. Being the first of its kind in Egypt, [email protected] carried great responsibility to share ideas and promote curiosity and excitement to “novel” areas in an honorable and huge way at the same time.
On Saturday, February the 17th 2018 our first TEDx Youth event was indeed hosted at Regional Training Sector for Water Resources and Irrigation in 6th of October city. The event theme was “PARALLAX” mainly centralizing upon how one’s ‘perspective’ matters. Our first generation volunteers were able to assemble Speakers and performers who’ve fostered the PARALLAX terminology in an insightful, creative way. Hence, the attendees were flattered by the experience, mostly referring to how side activities were fun in coordination with the shows. An attendee through TED reviews says, “the day was magnificent, I was in the first place hyped to listen to speeches, but what surprised me was the quality, tiny side-tweaks: break activities, handouts and even food.” Credits go to our wonderful sponsors who were generous enough to help us drive such a sound experience to the attendees.
