Frequently Asked Questions
Why is there a cost to attend the conference?
TEDxYouth6OctoberSTEM is a non-profit event that mainly relies on the generous support of our sponsors and the thorough volunteers. One of our near-future goals is to deliver a free event that is on par with TED and TEDx Conferences around the world. Until then, it is with a heavy heart that we charge for entry tickets to make up for our funding deficit.
How can I become a TEDxYouth6OctoberSTEM volunteer?
Volunteers are what makes us TEDxYouth6OctoberSTEM. Volunteers tend to be people who are as passionate as we are about ideas worth spreading. We are always looking for those passionate, enthusiastic people to help bring TEDxYouth6OctoberSTEM to life every year. If you’re interested in helping out, we’d love to hear from you.
Are you employed by TED?
Short answer is “No”. While we operate under a license from TED, TEDxYouth6OctoberSTEM is a volunteer-based activity. The volunteers allocate part of their time to bring TEDxYouth6OctoberSTEM events to our community.
How do I attend a TEDxYouth6OctoberSTEM event? Is everyone eligible to attend?
You will have to fill the attendees form and await a call from one of our volunteers to hand in the ticket. There are no clear restrictions to attendance, so anyone can feel free to fill the form.
How do I nominate a Speaker?
Use our ‘Suggest a Speaker’ form to nominate whoever you want. This form goes directly to our curation team.
Is there a list of public attendees to see who’s coming?
We will be always unable to share a list of attendees. Nonetheless, there will be time for you to network and mingle before and after the event.
What is the difference between TED and TEDx?
TED conferences are organized and run directly by TED, whereas TEDx events are fully coordinated independently, by independent licensees to serve a community segment. The goal of both of them is to inspire a passion for spreading ideas in the community.
What if I show up late or have to leave early?
We recommend you stay for the whole event.
